Musings ...

Here are a few things that have come across my radar but haven't quite made it to full post status. Enjoy ...

It’s that MERRY time of year and have a HAPPY next one
I was working too hard around Christmas time to respond to all the messages I received and I kind of put them aside with hopes of answering some of them before New Years. Bobbi and I have had a kind of strange holiday season.  She works for the American school and I work at the national oil company’s Petroleum Institute.  Somehow we both got a break at the first of the month and went to Maldives and Sri Lanka, read all about it here (scroll up for the diving): http://prosites-vstevens.homestead.com/files/divelogs/dives2008/logs2008.html#lastdive There’s a red tide here in the UAE that’s been spoiling the diving lately and driven all the sharks off, bummahs! (scroll up further, url above, to see those). Then Bobbi went off to the USA to see her mom and I had to work the rest of the month.  She spent Christmas there but Glenn is still here in Abu Dhabi so the two of us put up a tree and Glenn, bless him, bought presents!  Glenn’s wife and daughter are still away in Uzbekistan (she comes from Samarkand, we were all there this summer visiting with our new in-laws). Dusty is alone in Korea where he teaches English long hours in the freezing cold.  Fortunately his girlfriend from Irvine, who happens to be of Korean descent, accompanied him there, though she lives and works across town (Seoul). Now Bobbi’s coming home and we’ll spend New Year’s together and then I’ll head off for Uganda because now I get a break for two weeks.  So I guess there’ll be more about that later.
Hope your holiday season was joyful and have a Happy New Year
